Timescale for Diploma Development

What are the next stages of development?

Stage 1 of the content for the development of the Diploma in Manufacturing and Product Design was completed in July 2007. This process involved setting out the two documents (Line of Learning statement and Criteria) as shown on ‘Diploma Content’ page.

We are now progessing into stage 2. This stage involves the development of Awarding Bodies specifications for the new qualification, which will be completed by 27th June 2008.

The MDDP is supporting guidance for gateway applications made by consortia (network of schools and colleges) until 3rd December 2007. Regional assessment panels, which will include the DDP will appraise these applications and announce successful consortia in April 2008.

Throughout the next 12 months, the MDDP will be raising employer awareness and involvement of the new Diploma in Manufacturing and Product Design.

Stage 3 will commence in March 2008. This will involve the MDDP assisting delivery partners/organisation who assist schools and colleges to prepare for delivery of the new qualification in September 2008.
