The Diploma in Manufacturing and Product Design (MPD) is currently being taught in 34 different areas across England and will be available in a further 20 areas from September 2010.

In each area employers, schools and colleges have formed local partnerships known as Consortia, and they are working together to share their expertise and deliver this new qualification.

Each partnership delivering the Diploma in MPD has been assessed by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and has been approved to offer the qualification.

This is known as the Gateway application process and employers, schools and colleges are regularly invited to form partnerships to become Consortia and apply to teach the Diploma in MPD in their local area.

Those partnerships, which are interested in delivering the qualification from September 2011 are invited to apply through the Gateway process.
