About the Diploma
The Diploma in Manufacturing and Product Design is an employer led qualification that will be available for all 14-19 year olds in England. The content and structure of the qualification has been shaped by you to meet the needs of your manufacturing sector, in partnership with education.
Representatives from your sector have defined the essential skills, knowledge and understanding that young people should develop to equip them with the necessary skills and experience for future employment.
The diploma offers a broad programme of learning, combining theoretical study with the practical application of knowledge and skills in an innovative and exciting way.
Diploma students will learn important life skills and acquire a foundation in the business sector of their diploma. At the same time students will learn how to think for themselves, how to problem solve, how to communicate, how to work independently and how to work successfully as part of a team.
Manufacturing sectors have been instrumental in defining the content for the diploma in Manufacturing and Product Design. For that content to be brought to life and make it meaningful for delivery, it is vital that your engagement does not end here. Industry involvement with the delivery of the diploma is going to be critical to its success.
