Improve – Sector Skills Council for Food and Drink Manufacturing

Improve is the Sector Skills Council for Food and Drink Manufacturing across the UK. The UK food and drink manufacturing industry is a world leader – we are second in terms of global productivity and remain one of the most competitive manufacturing sectors in the UK.

In 2007, Improve will continue to work with employers and industry to ensure we maintain this position.

Three core projects will be launched:

• The Sector Skills Agreement providing an industry-wide plan to deliver key skills;
• A new Qualifications Framework providing the industry with the skills we need;
• The National Skills Academy providing the platform for delivery.

All these developments will help us achieve our mission of ‘world class skills for a world class sector’.

Improve will represent and support the following food and drink manufacturing sub-sectors:

• Distillery
• Drinks Manufacturing
• Food Manufacturing and Processing
• Fresh Produce
• Meat and Poultry
• Seafish
