
1. Foundation level is equivalent to five GCSE grades D to G and is a level 1 qualification. At this level, the Diploma in MPD gives you the opportunity to explore the full range of manufacturing sectors. You will benefit from an introduction to the various sectors, learn about the application of practical manufacturing skills and develop industry knowledge.

2. At Higher level the Diploma in MPD is equivalent to seven GCSE grades A* to C and is a level 2 qualification. You will be encouraged to further explore a range of practical skills and develop a broad knowledge of manufacturing practices and processes. At this level, you will gain experience of a wide range of transferable skills such as critical thinking and problem solving, as well as develop basic practical skills to apply your learning.

3. Advanced level is the same as three and a half A levels and is a level 3 qualification. The Diploma in MPD at Advanced level gives you the opportunity to refine your skills and knowledge by specialising and exploring fewer sectors at a deeper level. You will gain a detailed understanding of manufacturing and product design, as well as develop more advanced skills and wider ranging knowledge.
There is also a subset award known as the Progression Diploma, which is comparable to two A levels.
The Diploma in MPD offers a variety of career opportunities depending on the particular level you take. These range from employment and Apprenticeships to further study at college and university.
